The WordPress plugin collects a visitor’s phone number before opening your business WhatsApp chat. New numbers become “WhatsApp enquiry”; existing contacts retain their details and receive a private enquiry.

Setup

  1. Install and activate the ZIP in WordPress. Requires WordPress 6.8+ and PHP 8.3+.
  2. Open Settings → AI CRM WhatsApp and copy the site address and health path.
  3. Create a matching capture-only connection in CRM → Lead Source → WordPress WhatsApp.
  4. Paste its one-time key into WordPress. Set the business WhatsApp destination, enable, save and test the connection.
  5. Use the floating button, [aicrm_whatsapp] shortcode or an opt-in aicrm-whatsapp-trigger button class. Existing buttons are unchanged.

External service requirements

The plugin uses the AI CRM Nepal service operated by AI Automation Nepal Pvt. Ltd.. An active CRM account, eligible workspace and configured connection are required. Workspace limits and your CRM plan apply; paid service plans may be available. The plugin source is GPLv2 or later and is included in the ZIP. It does not require a WhatsApp Business API subscription or automatically send messages.

Data handling

After a visitor chooses Continue, WordPress sends their phone number, a random retry receipt, page path without query or fragment, and optional page title to /api/wordpress-whatsapp/capture on this service. The receiving workspace stores a lead or a private enquiry. With optional source measurement disabled, the capture payload does not add visitor IP, user-agent or referrer to the enquiry. Network metadata may be processed by hosting and rate-limit infrastructure.

WordPress stores an encrypted capture-only key using its auth salt; CRM stores a hash. The key is kept out of browser HTML and browser requests. A visitor’s number is held in popup memory during the interaction, without localStorage. CRM save must be acknowledged before opening wa.me for the configured business number and optional prefilled message.

Setup and daily health call /api/wordpress-whatsapp/validate with the server-side key. Signed read-only health reports plugin version, enabled state, destination format and CRM reachability. It creates no test leads and sends no messages. Temporary WordPress transients provide local abuse/replay friction.

The receiving business controls its CRM records and visitor notices. Plugin removal does not delete CRM records. Contact that business about your enquiry or its removal. Optional source measurement can also save available campaign/click identifiers, existing cookie evidence, sanitized page context and trusted visitor IP/user agent with the accepted enquiry. It is controlled by the CRM connection and visitor measurement choice. A default-selected checkbox is recorded separately from an affirmative choice; no Meta or Google advertising feedback is sent by this plugin.

Daily health and limits

The finite cloud job checks once daily at 02:00 Nepal time. A failed or stale result cannot remain Healthy; checks older than 26 hours show Overdue. This does not verify phone ownership, WhatsApp account ownership, customer write delivery or continuous uptime. When CRM save fails, the visitor can retry using the same receipt.
